New England Girls Rack Up Points at Junior Olympics
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Mar. 14, 2008– New England skiers continue their quest for the Alaska Cup at the 2008 Junior Olympic Cross Country Ski Championships in Anchorage, Alaska.
Today, seven FOJ New England skiers finished in the top 20 in the 10 km race. The skiers, in order of their finish times, include:
Parker Tyler of Landgrove, Vermont – 3rd place
Maddie Talkington of Weston, Vermont – 6th place
Lucy Garrec of Freeport, Maine – 7th place
Caitlin Curran from Waitsfield, Vermont – 9th place
Mae Foster from Weston, Vermont – 12th place
Katie Miller from Lenox, Mass.- 14th place
Ruth McGovern from Stowe, Vermont –17th place
New England is currently in second place behind the Team Alaska for the coveted Alaska Cup.
The 2008 USSA Junior Olympic Cross Country Ski Championships continue through March 15, 2008.
The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau’s mission is to attract and serve visitors to the Municipality of Anchorage. ACVB’s marketing functions are funded by one-third of the bed tax collected by the lodging association. One-third goes to the Municipality’s general fund and one-third goes to the Anchorage Civic & Convention Center construction project. ACVB receives no state or federal funds.
