Promoting Anchorage Garners Awards for Visitor Industry Leader: Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau Receives Accolades from PRSA
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Jan. 14, 2008 – The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) received 11 awards for their work promoting Alaska’s largest city from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Alaska Chapter, at the Aurora Awards Banquet, Jan. 10, 2008.
“Being recognized by peers in the industry for our work is an honor,” says Nance Larsen, vice president of ACVB Communications & Marketing Programs. “Anchorage is an amazing destination, providing incredible opportunities to showcase what Alaska has to offer.”
The PRSA Aurora Awards highlight and honor the achievements of professional communicators. The PRSA Chapter of Puget Sound in Washington judged the Anchorage submissions. ACVB submitted a total of 11 entries into this year’s competition; four of the entries received first place recognition while the remaining seven received second place.

2nd Place – Award of Excellence – News/Feature Story Release – Awarded to ACVB and AM Communications for the World Eskimo Indian Olympics Indigenous Cultures and Traditions Release
2nd Place – Award of Excellence – News/Feature Story Placement – Awarded to ACVB for the World Eskimo Indian Olympics
2nd Place- Award of Excellence- Direct Mail Solicitation – Awarded to ACVB and Marketing Solutions for the Conventions Sales Meetings & Markets Mail Blitz

2nd Place – Public and Community Service – Geocaching Journeys – Awarded to ACVB, Marketing Solutions, PIP Printing, and Central Middle School of Science
The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau’s mission is to attract and serve visitors to the Municipality of Anchorage. ACVB’s marketing functions are funded by one-third of the bed tax collected by the lodging association. One-third goes to the Municipality’s general fund and one-third goes to the Anchorage Civic and Convention Center construction project. ACVB receives no state or federal funds.
