Fire & Ice Ring In The New Year In Anchorage, Alaska: Red Hot Entertainment and Cool Events Dazzle Visitors on New Year’s Eve

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Dec. 28, 2007 – Anchorage will ring in 2008 with a red-hot evening full of cool events at the 2008 NECA/IBEW New Year’s Eve “Fire & Ice Celebration,” Dec. 31, 2007, beginning at 4 p.m AST.

Taking place in Anchorage’s Town Square, the event boasts a variety of extreme entertainment including aerial acrobats, fire juggling, live outdoor music, a dance parade and an extravagant fireworks display that is sure to rival the Northern Lights.

“Anchorage is the perfect destination for families to hail in the New Year,” says Julie Saupe, president and CEO of the Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB). “Because of Anchorage’s Northern location, at latitude of 61 degrees, families can enjoy an array of fun activities as well as a dazzling display of fireworks without disrupting their little ones’ bedtimes. Adults can find fun all night long in the city’s club scene.”

With mild temperatures in the forecast, Anchorage is gearing up for an incredible celebration.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the high-flying acrobatic performance by the Aerial Angels. As part of the “cirque” tradition, these female circus performers will entertain onlookers with aerial hoop and aerial silk acrobatics, fire eating, and bullwhip target taking.

The 2008 NECA/IBEW New Year’s Eve “Fire & Ice Celebration” evening program includes:

4 – 4:45 p.m. Toddler Ice Party with Anchortown Circus

5 – 5:45 p.m. Youth Ice Skating Party with Anchortown Circus

5:50 – 6 p.m. Ice dancing demonstration with Anchorage Figure Skating Club

6 – 8 p.m. Fire and Ice Celebration featuring performances by Aerial Angels, Nomadia, the Alaska Fire Circus, Alaska Batonette Corp., and juggler Jim Kerr. Enjoy live music by Ever Ready and a light show by Creative Light and Sound, as well as stilt walkers, and the Alaska Dance Theatre’s Fire & Ice Dance Parade.

8 p.m. Fireworks
