Shop Anchorage

Photo

Anchorage offers the perfect "terrain" for retail recon. Many of Alaska’s resident artists, and Alaska Native artisans market their wares in the Alaska's largest city. Fine art, ivory carvings, unique glassware, and one-of-a kind ceramics and metal works fill the numerous galleries that dot downtown streets.

An abundance of merchandise means more selection and competitive pricing. When shopping in the city, enjoy Anchorage's pièce de résistance…no sales tax!

A few uniquely Alaskan items include:

  • Qiviut: Knit items made from the musk ox underwool (They shed this naturally…not sheered like sheep and left naked on the North Slope!) .

  • Alaska Native Art: Handcrafted from bone, stone, wood, jade, whale baleen or ivory. Contemporary and traditional forms from all of the state’s various cultural groups.

  • Ulu Knife: A traditional Native tool with a curved blade and handle made of wood, stone or ivory.

  • Wild Berry Candy: Berry-filled chocolate confections made from handpicked, wild berries.

Summer visitors enjoy taking in Anchorage's more than 19 hours of sunlight in open-air markets like the Anchorage Market at 3rd Avenue and E Street. During winter months, there are enough pre-Christmas craft fairs and bazaars throughout the city to keep the most dedicated retail strategist happy.

Book your client for a few extra days of shopping in Anchorage, and they’ll love you so much they’ll most likely bring you something special!
