For the first time in 46 years, Anchorage will host this worldwide event that determines strength, agility, balance and endurance as Native peoples from around the world meet to prove their skills of survival. Bring visiting friends and relatives (VFRs) to catch the action in such events as the one hand reach, the ear pull and the high kick.
One Hand Reach tests the athlete's strength as they balance on one hand while holding his or her body parallel to the floor.
Two opponents face each other with twine tied around their ears for a tug-of-war in the Ear Pull event - a test of the ability to withstand pain!
A measure of balance. For the Alaskan High Kick, athletes sit on the floor with one hand holding the opposite foot, kick a target and land in the original starting position - the higher the kick the better the score.
These games are at the Sullivan Arena, July 18 - 21, 2007, and include an Arts and Crafts Fair. Don't miss the Car-give-away contest sponsored by Cal Worthington!
