Snowflake Connects Community and Nature
More than 3,000 Anchorage residents cast their vote for the official licensed trademark that will accompany the city's new brand, the winner of the Anchorage Big Wild Life logo contest. The winner is a colorful snowflake which incorporates the hooves of the community's wildlife to reflect a modern, growing city, by local graphic artist Alexis Roskelley-Johnson.
"I wanted to visually incorporate elements of an urban, modern city, community and nature," said Roskelley-Johnson. "These elements came together and morphed into a colorful burst that I think symbolizes our diverse city. It's modern, it’s approachable and it appeals to all age groups, consumers and businesses."
Roskelley-Johnson submitted the winning design chosen from three finalists offered for online voting by the public. The design is a colorful snowflake made up of a series of welcoming hands incorporating moose prints, which frequent Alaska's largest city.
