49th Reel Film Project
Anchorage, Alaska – March 19, 2007 – Amateur and professional filmmakers are invited to take part in the 49th Reel Film Project, a www.Anchorage.net video podcast contest presented by the Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB), in conjunction with the 2007 Anchorage International Film Festival (AIFF).
Filmmakers can submit entries directly to the Alaska Moving Image Preservation Association (AMIPA), April 1 – Sept. 14, 2007. Winning podcasts will be screened during the 2007 Festival and special selections will be featured on www.49threel.com.
The Web site, www.49threel.com, was launched Sept. 12, 2006, featuring video podcasts highlighting Anchorage activities and events. Since its launch, www.49threel.com has been a huge success with 52,709 page views to date.
Submission categories include:
- My Anchorage: A whimsical, unique, personal perspective of life in Anchorage.
- Anchorage Roots: Share the legacy of the Dena’ina people.
- City Escapes: Connect the blend of urban activities with natural experiences available within proximity of downtown Anchorage.
- Debunking the Alaska Myths: Demystify life in the Last Frontier with an humorous undertone.
- Wild Winter Extremes: Feature extreme winter sports available in Anchorage.
- Anchorage: Big Wild Life™: Depict larger-than-life experiences – recreation, wildlife, mountains, and glaciers – available in Anchorage.
- Anchorage Underground: Examine the rich underbelly of Anchorage to find authentic and enduring stories.
- Seymour with Props: Express creativity when using ACVB props. Contact cposey@anchorage.net for prop information.
- Seymour of Anchorage: Bring an ACVB sample itinerary to life while sharing the unique characteristics of people, places and things discovered along the way. Itineraries are posted online at www.Anchorage.net/itineraries.

The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau’s mission is to attract and serve visitors to the Municipality of Anchorage. ACVB’s marketing functions are funded by one-third of the bed tax collected by the lodging association. One-third goes to the Municipality’s general fund and one-third goes to the Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center construction project. ACVB receives no state or federal funds.
