Cultural Celebration

The Local Planning Committee will host a cultural celebration during the NCAI Mid-Year Conference at the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Check back often for the date and time of the celebration, which will be announced once the schedule is confirmed.

Food and Entertainment

Traditional Alaska Native foods will be served during the cultural celebration and several Alaska Native dance groups will perform.

Transportation

Free transportation from the Egan Center to the Alaska Native Heritage Center will be provided to conference registrants. The bus schedule will be announced once it is confirmed.

About the Alaska Native Heritage Center

The Alaska Native Heritage Center is an exciting place where all people can come to expand their understanding of Alaska's first people. The rich heritage of Alaska's eleven cultural groups - drawing upon the lifeways of long ago, the wisdom of elders, and the traditions that endure are shared with visitors. The encounter is designed to enhance self-esteem among Native people and to encourage cross-cultural exchanges among all people.

Attendees are also invited to walk through the Hall of Cultures where they will learn about the dozens of Alaska Native cultural groups and their unique ability to adapt to Alaska’s harsh climate. The Alaska Native Heritage Center is also home to five traditional village sites that showcase the varied and unique homes of Alaska’s first people. These sites give the visitor an overview of traditional objects used in everyday Alaska Native life since ancient times. Here you can see, touch, hear, smell and feel the lifeways of long ago.
