With the holiday season right around the corner, it's time to start thinking about gifts. Anchorage residents are lucky to have a variety of craft fairs, galleries and gift stores that offer unique, handcrafted items made by Alaskans. From qiviut scarves, mittens and hats to birch syrup and candy, treat friends and family in the Lower 48 to Made in Alaska gifts this winter.
Throughout the winter, locals can bundle up and hit the town for First Friday Art Walk. This is a great opportunity to mingle with artists and purchase one-of-a-kind artwork. Visiting family and friends will be impressed with the bustling art scene. Share Alaska Native culture and support local artisans by shopping for authentic Native artwork.
The 18th Annual Crafts Weekend at the Anchorage Museum, Nov. 24 - 26, is the perfect chance to kick off holiday shopping. Peruse fine crafts including jewelry, beadwork, pottery and ornaments while enjoying live music.
