Anchorage's strong convention business expands the visitor season and local residents can take advantage of this phenomenon.
Conventions are selecting the shoulder season in Anchorage (April to mid-May and mid-September through October) for their meetings and many popular tours and activities are opening earlier and closing later to accommodate delegates.
As a result, locals can find great activities and excursions at discounted rates. Couldn't find a seat on a 26 Glacier Cruise in July? Try again in September. Family or friends coming to town this fall? Book a room or rent a car at special rates.
Convention season also provides a unique chance to particpate in educational programs such as the Watchable Wildlife Conference, that will examine the challenges related to building sustainable nature and wildlife tourism and is open to the public, Oct. 3 - 5, 2006.

The 2006 Friends of Seymour vfr Club is presented in partnership with the Anchorage Market & Festival. Held downtown on weekends and Wednesdays at the Northway Mall, the market features locally grown vegetables, pottery, jewelry, live music and great eats!
