Anchorage to Welcome 2007 Western Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus Annual Meeting
Anchorage, Alaska – Aug. 1, 2006 - Anchorage, Alaska will play host to the 2007 Western Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (WACVB) Annual Meeting, Oct. 10 – 14, 2007. The event will attract approximately 200 delegates from more than 130 member bureaus across the western United States and western Canada, with an estimated economic impact (EEI) of $194,832.
The WACVB CEO Forum was held in Anchorage in 1996, 1999 and 2004, but this is the first time that the Annual Conference has taken place in Anchorage.
"It's an honor to host our destination marketing colleagues in Anchorage,” said Bruce Bustamante, CEO and president of the Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB). “The ACVB, as well as other Alaska CVBs, will benefit from the opportunity to exchange ideas at the WACVB Annual Meeting."
For attendees, the WACVB Annual Meeting offers professional growth opportunities with sessions focusing on creative and resourceful marketing strategies, innovative technologies and tips for adapting to industry trends and organizational demands.
The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau’s mission is to attract and serve visitors to the Municipality of Anchorage. ACVB’s marketing functions are funded by one-third of the bed tax collected by the lodging association. One-third goes to the Municipality’s general fund and one-third goes to the Anchorage Civic and Convention construction project. ACVB receives no state or federal funds.
