Kids' Fun in Anchorage!

Locals with children know there's loads to do with little ones in Anchorage and, for those with visiting friends or relatives with children, there's a wealth of opportunities to entertain.

The new book, Anchorage with Kids, by Michelle Barton Laufer, M.D., is a helpful tome of kid-friendly activities. Chapters are arranged in categories such as: "Anchorage All Year," with a calendar of events, "Athletics of All Sorts," and "Cures for Cabin Fever."

An appendix, "Anchorage in a Day," lists a host of activities that are great for visitors including visiting Elmendorf Fish Hatchery, taking dogsled ride or gold panning.

The Blueberry & Mountain Arts Festival will take place on Saturday, August 12, 2006, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Pond Courtyard at the Alyeska Prince Hotel and will be in conjunction with the Alyeska Classic Mountain Run. As always, the festival will include live music, artesian vendor booths, barbeque, beer garden and fun for the whole family.
