Rules and Regulations

  1. Seymour of Anchorage & Wild Salmon on Parade Contest ( "Contest ") is sponsored and administered by the Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau ( "ACVB" ), 524 W Fourth Ave., Anchorage, AK 99501. (907) 276-4118. The Contest is governed by these Rules and Regulations, which shall be interpreted by ACVB. All decisions of ACVB are final on all matters relating to the Contest.

  2. The Contest begins on Thursday, June 8, 2006, and ends August 28, 2006. The deadline for submitting photographs is: 11:59 p.m. Alaska Daylight Time, August 14, 2006. Submitted photographs may be rated throughout the period beginning with the first posting of a contest photo on www.Anchorage.net and ending at 11:59 p.m., August 28, 2006.

  3. The Contest is open to residents of the Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska (including all Anchorage communities, from Eklutna to Portage!), and to persons residing outside of Alaska.

  4. To enter, visit the ACVB internet web site at www.Anchorage.net/Salmon, and download and print a Flat Seymour, or visit the Downtown Anchorage Visitor Information Center at the corner of 4th Avenue and F Street in Anchorage, Alaska to pick-up a Flat Seymour. Photograph Flat Seymour with not less than 3 of your favorite Wild Salmon on Parade statues located throughout Downtown Anchorage. Electronically submit a minimum of three and a maximum of five Flat Seymour photographs online at www.Anchorage.net/Seymour.

Each submitted photograph must be of a different Wild Salmon on Parade Statue. Valid entries require registration and completion of the entry form provided on-line. Only one entry (of three to five photos) per person is allowed. Depending upon the number of entries, there maybe a delay of up to three (3) business days between the submission of photos and their posting on www.Anchorage.net.

Participants may NOT enter multiple times using different e-mail addresses. Each entry will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address as of the time of entry, as registered with the Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other entity assigning the e-mail address used to enter. ACVB may investigate and determine whether multiple entries have been received from any participant, and may require valid photo identification or other verification. Persons attempting to submit multiple entries will be disqualified.

  5. Anyone may rate submitted photographs by visiting the ACVB Internet web site at www.Anchorage.net and casting their votes.

  6. Entrants who meet the eligibility requirements will have their highest-ranked photo added to the pool of potential winners. The actual winners will be selected by determining the highest-ranked photos within this pool of photographs

  7. Photos will be ranked using a true Bayesian estimate formula:

    • PhatMeter weighted rank (WR) = (v / (v+m)) * R + (m / (v+m)) * C

where: R = mean average of vote ratings for the photo; v = number of votes for the photo; m = minimum votes for true qualification (20); and C = the midpoint of the Phatmeter rating scale (in this case, 3).

  8. A minimum of 20 unique ratings are required to rank a photograph.

  9. By entering the Contest, entrants give ACVB permission to contact them via e-mail on Contest-related matters. ACVB does not and will not disclose e-mail addresses to any third parties.

  10. Two Grand Prize winners will be selected. One Grand Prize will be awarded to an Anchorage resident, and one Grand Prize will be awarded to a person residing outside of Alaska. Additional prizes selected by ACVB will be awarded randomly to 10 other qualified entrants. Contest winners may be notified by e-mail or by phone, and will be notified after the close of the Contest, but before September 7, 2006.

Grand Prizes consist of the winner’s choice of one Wild Alaska Salmon (15 – 30 lbs depending upon availability) delivered to their door OR a one-day fishing excursion for one in Southcentral Alaska with the Seward Fishing Club, to be enjoyed at the end of the 2006 fishing season or during the 2007 season, based on availability. Additional prizes include a National Park cruise for two with Renown Tours, and other great prizes. Prizes do not include transportation or licensing.

New! Contest for Alaska residents outside of Anchorage sponsored by Renown Tours. Starting June 19, 2006, Alaska residents who live outside of Anchorage that participate in the 2006 Seymour Wild Salmon on Parade contest have a chance to win a prize of a national park cruise for two with Renown Tours.

  11. ACVB is not responsible for lost, interrupted, or unavailable network, server, or other connections, or for any failed telephone or computer hardware or software, or for any failed, delayed, misdirected, corrupted, or garbled transmissions or errors of any kind, whether human, mechanical, or electronic, or for entries that for any reason are not received by ACVB by Monday, August 14, 2006 at 11:59 p.m. ADT.

  12. All entries become the property of ACVB and will not be returned. Submitted photographs remain the property of the entrant, but by entering the Contest, all entrants agree to provide a royalty-free license to ACVB to publish the photo and to use the image in its web site and/or any promotional materials it may prepare or have prepared on its behalf. All entrants must certify that submitted photographs are original images belonging to the entrant, and that the entrant has sufficient written permission of any recognizable models or other persons appearing in the photograph to be able to grant to Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau the right to publish and otherwise use the photograph.

  13. No purchase is required for entry into the Contest.
