The Free 2006 Official Anchorage Visitors Guide: the Perfect Tool for Planning the Ultimate Vacation

Anchorage, Alaska – Jan. 5, 2006 - The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) has unveiled its 2006 Official Anchorage Visitors Guide this week. This free, award-winning Guide is an invaluable tool for travelers planning to visit Alaska’s largest city. Filled with exciting activities, popular events, a colorful, user-friendly pullout map and plenty of sample itineraries, both visitors and residents use the guide, along with ACVB’s Web site, www.Anchorage.net.

The 131-page Guide features several informative sections such as “Kids Corner,” “A Reel Good Time,” “Planning the Trip,” “Day Trippin’ Itineraries,” “Peak Adventures – Winter” and a 4-page 2006 Events Calendar. The Guide offers more than 48 pages of compelling stories, informative material and gorgeous, eye-catching photographs.

“The guide truly reflects experience-based adventures and active vacation options, which research shows consumers are seeking,” said Nance Larsen, Vice President of Communications & Marketing Programs for ACVB. “It features a far wider range of activities overall, with a focus on winter and family travel.”

For the first time, the ACVB is also offering the Guide in an interactive CD version. The CD features an electronic business directory of ACVB members and is linked live to ACVB’s Web site where visitors can find additional trip planning capabilities.

A new feature in the 2006 Visitors Guide is Flat Seymour, linked to www.Anchorage.net. Visitors and residents can download “Flat Seymour,” Anchorage’s goodwill moose ambassador, and take him along on adventures throughout Alaska as well as exotic locations throughout the world. Travelers can capture his journeys with a

digital camera, pick the best shots and load them into Seymour’s photo album with a short caption of where and when it was taken.

The 2006 Official Anchorage Visitors Guide is available for free by calling (800) 478-1255 or by exploring www.Anchorage.net. Residents can also pick up a free Visitors Guide at ACVB and its five Visitor Information Centers.

The Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau’s mission is to attract and serve visitors to the Municipality of Anchorage. ACVB’s marketing functions are funded by half of the bed tax collected by the lodging association. The other half goes to the Municipality’s general fund. ACVB receives no state or federal funds.
