Anchorage Fur Rondy is a wild, wacky and truly Alaskan way to have fun every February.
Anchorage Fur Rondy is a wild, wacky and truly Alaskan way to have fun every February.

Anchorage Fur Rendezvous celebrates the beginning of the end of winter with a series of outrageously entertaining shows, games and events. It’s easy for locals and visitors alike to get caught up in the 17-day, fun-filled festival! From crazy costumes at the Miner’s & Trappers Ball to booing and hissing the villain at an Alaskana Melodrama, Fur Rendezvous is a step back in time.

Fireworks, a parade, snowmobile competitions and the World Championship Sled Dog Race are part of the fun – along with many unexpected surprises including a snow sculpture competition, Eskimo blanket toss, snowshoe softball, the Grand Prix Auto Race and a Native Arts & Crafts Show.

The festival culminates when thousands of visitors converge with locals to witness the ceremonial start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race on 4th Avenue in downtown Anchorage. This year’s festival will take place from February 17–March 5.
