Anchorage is the perfect base camp for Alaska adventure—with activities thrill adventure seekers of all interests and abilities.

Wildlife Watching

Winter is a great time to see wildlife, especially moose. The oversized deer love to troll on cleared roads and trails during the snowy season taking advantage of easy access to locals’ expensive ornamental shrubbery.

Moose can be spotted virtually anywhere in town during winter months, even some of the most improbable places like right on 4th Avenue in front of the Visitors Log Cabin Information Center, but there are some locations that are consistently favorite hang-outs for a variety of species including wolverine, mink, wolves, Dall sheep, lynx, beluga whales and bird species.

Flightseeing

Dramatic scenery of spectacular mountain spires hurl into dark blue seas. Tidewater glaciers –massive in scale, wind and grind their way from snow fields bearing crevasses of glowing sapphire.

No other mode of transportation delivers quite the feeling of adventure like climbing into a small plane and taking flight to Alaska’s wilderness. The landscape in winter particularly lends itself to distinct, dramatic vistas in every direction.
