Anchorage Trail System Puts Top U.S. Athletes on Fast Track : Anchorage’s Kincaid Park Gears Up to Host the 2008 USSA Junior Olympics Cross Country Ski Championships
The best young cross country skiers in the land will traverse one of the hottest trail systems in the nation during the 2008 USSA Junior Olympics Cross Country Ski Championships, March 9 – 15, 2008, in Anchorage, Alaska. More than 400 athletes and 94 coaches will participate in the 2008 Junior Olympics at Kincaid Park. Locally, 52 Alaskans will compete in the races, attended to by 14 coaches.
Legacy Print Will Commemorate Alaska’s 50th Anniversary of Statehood: All Living Governors to Sign Collectors Print
Eight of Alaska’s governors will sign a limited edition giclée print, entitled Legacy of Alaska, to raise funds for Alaska’s 50th anniversary celebration of Alaska statehood. The $1,500 print is available by reservation at Artique, Ltd. The heirloom print, taken from a painting by Sydney Laurence depicting Alaska’s largest mountain, Denali (Mt. McKinley), is from the art collection of the Alaska National Insurance Company and will be limted to 950 copies.
