Northern Lights News Spring/Summer 2005 - 2006What to WearEmbraced by the Chugach Mountains and warmed by waters from the Pacific Rim, Anchorage has a moderate, maritime climate, with low humidity that contributes to comfortable temperatures. Throughout the summer, Anchorage’s climate is similar to San Francisco’s spring weather with an average high of 65° F. Winter brings snow with temperatures ranging from 34° to -10° F, creating a climate very much like ski resorts in Canada, the Rocky Mountains, or Europe. The key to comfort is to dress in layers – it’s the best way to be prepared when taking advantage of the area's many outdoor activities. Comfortable walking shoes and warm socks are appropriate for all seasons.
Anchorage’s informality makes casual wear welcome virtually everywhere. For more information, explore www.Anchorage.net/climate. |
