Rip-roaring Show
The Hullabaloo on Fourth Avenue
Enjoy an hysterical, historically accurate history lesson, from the Bering Sea Land Bridge to the oil boom – everything important that shaped Alaska. The family rated show is produced by two local talents, and will be performed in the historically elegant 4th Avenue Theater. The curtain rises June 2005.

The Alaska Sled Dog Center will open in summer 2005, near scenic Eklutna Lake. The Center will offer visitors a chance to socialize with working sled dogs from pups to adults and learn about the unique sport of dog mushing. Transportation from downtown Anchorage to the center is in the works, with possible stops at Alaska Native Heritage Center and Eklutna Historic Park. Keep an eye out for this one-of-a kind attraction coming soon!

Great things are worth waiting for. The eagerly anticipated opening of the Bridge Salmon Bake & Grille will take place in July 2005. This unique restaurant, located in an historic covered bridge spanning Ship Creek will offer diners spectacular views of Cook Inlet, the Chugach Mountains and salmon fishing action in Ship Creek below. A mouth-watering a la carte menu of East-West fusion creations will supplement a daily buffet featuring Alaska’s freshest wild Alaska salmon. The Bridge is located next to the Ulu Factory, within a block of the Alaska Railroad Depot and within several blocks of the city center. Look out for this new restaurant to quickly become an Anchorage landmark.

The bar will rise on passenger rail service in summer 2005, with the addition of the Alaska Railroad’s two new custom double-deck railcars. The cars will enhance AKRR’s Denali Star Train, which operates daily from Anchorage to Fairbanks with stops in Wasilla, Talkeetna and Denali National Park, from mid-May through mid-September. The Railroad’s GoldStar Service will include confirmed seating in the new luxury cars, complimentary appetizers and access to a private outdoor viewing platform reserved exclusively for GoldStar guests. Each GoldStar guest will also receive a commemorative GoldStar pin at check-in.

Alaska Tour & Travel’s Park Connection Motorcoach Service will partner with the Magic Bus and Premier Alaska Tours to add a Whittier option to their scheduled service from Seward, Anchorage and Denali for the upcoming 2005 season. The service will offer a 3 p.m. departure from The Anchorage Museum of History and Art to Whittier on all Whittier Cruise ship dates; on Monday and Saturday for Princess Ship dates, and on Wednesday for Carnival and Radisson ship dates. Arrival time at the ship in Whittier is 4:45 p.m. Cost is $49 per person and is commissionable. Rate also includes luggage storage, staff assistance at the Museum between Noon and 3 p.m. and a complementary pass into the Anchorage Museum of History and Art.

Venetie and Kaltag, the two lynx that were rescued from interior Alaska forest fires in 2004 have gotten a brand new exhibit of their own. Lynx are avid tree-climbers, fast runners and enjoy playing in water. Their new exhibit is in a natural setting that includes forest and meadow areas appropriate for these types of activities. The lodge at Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center has also been given a face-lift and now includes a restaurant, coffee shop, restrooms and additional retail space in the already popular gift shop.
