New Airport Concourse Open in Anchorage

In June 2004, the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport opened its new 447,200 square foot Concourse C, which boasts nine new jet gates leased by Alaska Airlines.
The new terminal is designed to suggest flight and high-tech aviation. Contractors used natural Alaska materials on the lower levels. A large central core area with high-sculpted ceilings, skylight, and high surrounding windows house the passenger security checkpoint and a retail / concession core.
The new terminal has glass on most of the exterior walls that provide sweeping views of the Chugach Mountains to the east and airside operations and the Alaska Mountain Range to the west.
The new Concourse offers a variety of concessions, including a “Chili's Too” restaurant and accompanying Margarita Bar, Quizno's sandwich shop, a full-size Starbucks store with deli sandwiches and pastries, and a new lounge.
